Acid stains react with the elements in your concrete to create a
multicolored, variegated, beautiful surface. Acid stain is not a
paint or tinted coating which forms a film on the surface. Acid
stained floors exhibit a translucent effect, the colors shifting
slightly based upon surrounding lighting and wall colors.
Your floor will experience various stages in the acid or eco
staining process. This process can be a scary experience for
some customers. The acid reaction creates a chalky residue
which will appear on top of the slab or overlay while the acid is
reacting. Not until the floor is sealed do you see the beautiful
floor reveal itself. This residue is not the color of the finished
floor! This is the point when some customers panic, but it's just
part of the staining experience and is to be expected.

Care of your beautiful floor
A dust mop or swiffer is recommended to maintain your new
floor along with light moping. A small amount of detergent or
plain water is all that is needed. If waxing, please allow the floor
to dry before application. See below for different sealer care
instructions.
Waxing A professional floor finish product, applied with a
lambs wool applicator will do the job nicely. Follow the
instructions for your chosen floor finish product, however, floors
typically require three coats initially, allowing each coat to dry
between applications. After the initial application, waxing
should be done when the floor appears dull. Waxing helps with
small scuffs and maintains the gloss. To maintain your lambs
wool applicator, rinse thoroughly with water when finished.
Acrylic customers should wax when the floor starts to appear
dull. The wax will protect the sealer and shine the floor. Your
floor may have to be resealed at some point in the future
depending upon how well the floor is maintained.
Urethane and Epoxy Our very best sealers need very little
care. Epoxy is the high gloss option, it may need to be buffed
periodically to maintain its beautiful shine. Urethane just needs
light mopping.
Commercial customers We recommend hiring a janitorial
service to clean and buff the floor on a regular basis. This will
protect and maintain the original luster of the floor. Do not mop
the floor with the same mop that cleans the kitchen area.
Please use a separate mop, clean water and a small amount
of detergent. The grease from the kitchen interferes with the
look of your floor.
Outdoor projects should be resealed every 2 years or so
depending upon traffic.
